Look at the walls first
Note dents, loose coatings, cracks, and signs of moisture. Cosmetic repairs should follow assessment of any active water problem or recurring damage.
Consider the whole room
Decide whether ceilings, doors, and trim are included. Compare colour samples in the room’s daylight and evening lighting, and confirm the finish suitable for each surface.
Plan access and drying
Discuss where furniture will go and when the room can be out of use. Preparation, patch drying, and multiple coats can affect timing. Older coatings may need assessment before disturbing them.
